In December 1941, two agents from the Czechoslovak government in exile, Jozef Gabcik (Cillian Murphy) and Jan Kubiš (Jamie Dornan) are parachuted in their native country occupied at the time by Nazi forces. Jozef is seriously injured when landing in a tree, but both men are going to meet their liaison man in Czechoslovakia. They are discovered shortly two resistance fighters that turn out to be nothing more than traitors.
One of them is shot by Jozef and the other managed to escape and flee. Stealing their truck, the two agents are heading to Prague. When seeks liaison, they are directed by Dr. Eduard (Sean Mahon), which takes care of Josef and arranges to meet later with other members of the resistance led by “Uncle” Jan Zelenka-Hajský (Toby Jones). Agencies reveal that their presence is due execution “anthropoid Mission” – namely that the assassinate Reinhard Heydrich (Detlef Bothe).
Heydrich architect “Final Solution” to exterminate the Jews and German forces under Czechoslovak leader, accounting for asemnea, and the third man in the German state after Hitler and Himmler. With limited information and poor equipment in a city under occupation, Jozef and Jan must find a way to assassinate Heydrich, an operation which, they hope, will change the face of the whole Europe. With two young women, Marie Kovárníková (Charlotte Le Bon) and Lenka Fafková (Anna Geislerová), but also with other conspirators, agents will take him by surprise when Heydrich headed by car to its headquarters.
