After the events of the past film, Gru became Agent of the Anti-Corruption League (LAR) and is sent along with his wife and wife Lucy to play the plans of Balthazar Bratt, a super villain who was a former child actor who played a small villain in a great TV show, but it was canceled because the hero grew. His popularity made Bratt adopt his person in the show and become a villain for good.
Gru manages to prevent Bratt from stealing a very valuable diamond, but he can not capture it. As a result of repeated failures to catch Bratt, Gru and Lucy are kicked out of LAR by new director Valerie Da Vinci. Gru and Lucy are telling their children, Margo, Edith and Agnes, that they have been fired, but it assures them that they will quickly find another job.
Most Gru’s Minions leave him when he refuses to return to life as a criminal despite being out of work. One morning the family is approached by the butler of the long-lost twin brother of Gru, Dru, who lives in a country called Freedonia and wishes to meet his brother very much. Surprised by this news, Gru takes his mother to the questions and tells him that after divorcing from Gru’s father they have agreed to keep each child and not tell them about the other brother’s existence.
