In 2007, Lucy Mirando (Tilda Swinton) succeeded her controversial grandfather as CEO of Mirando Corporation. She announces that they have managed to create a special super-pig. 26 of these pigs will be sent to various locations on the planet, and ten years later one of them will be chosen as the winner. After ten years, a little girl named Mija lives happily in a rural area in South Korea alongside her grandfather and the super pig she called Okja.
They are then visited by a company representative and zoologist, Dr. Johnny Wilcox (Jake Gyllenhaal), who informs them that Okja was chosen to win and take him to New York. Devastated, Mija flees to Seoul to find Okja where he sees the animal as her best friend is embarked in a truck. Mija manages to stop the transport and release Okja, running together and producing chaos in their path.
Finally, Mija and Okja are saved by an animal rights organization and, realizing that Okja is part of the girl’s family, I tell her that they plan to implant a locator and recorder in the ear of the animal to be captured again by Mirando and to show how brutally they behave with the animals. Mija tells them she wants her animal to be released and take him back to the mountains, but their translator, K, deliberately thinks Miyah would have given her permission for their plan, and they abandon the animal to be recaptured.
