Dolittle

After the death of his wife seven years ago, Dr. John Dolittle lives locked in his mansion with a group of exotic animals with whom he can talk. However, when the young Queen Victoria falls ill, she is chosen to find the cure that is hidden in a remote island on the other side of the world. Along the way he will recover his courage and sense of humor while confronting old enemies and discover incredible creatures. He will be accompanied by his assistant and hairy travel companions. Director and Oscar-winning screenwriter Stephen Gaghan (Gold, the great scam) and Academy Award nominee Robert Downey Jr., as the protagonist and producer, lead this new version of the well-known character created by Hugh Lofting. In his first film appearance after the epic farewell to the Marvel universe in Avengers: Endgame, Downey Jr. becomes the mythical doctor and veterinarian capable of talking with animals on an adventure that, unlike family comedies starring Eddie Murphy, It takes place in the Victorian era. In this way, The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle celebrates the centenary of this classic children’s literature with a film full of action, dangers and humor suitable for all audiences. The brand-new Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas (Pain and glory), Michael Sheen (The Apostle) and Kasia Smutniak (Silvio (and the others)) co-star, along with a bunch of nice CGI creatures with the voices of, among others, the Oscar winners Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Emma Thompson (Last Christmas) and Marion Cotillard (Little lies to be together), this story about family, love for nature and the importance of listening and being heard.
