The protagonist, the young nobleman Paul Atreides, is expelled from his home and sent to Dune with his family. To earn the respect of the planet’s hostile inhabitants, Paul must demonstrate his strength and wisdom in alien and dangerous conditions. Arrakis appears to the heroes as an inhospitable desert inhabited by giant sandworms and other deadly creatures. Paul, trusting only himself, is forced to learn to survive in a harsh climate and fight enemies to protect the town from him. The second part of the film reveals Paul’s inner world more deeply. He will know his true abilities and purpose. Learning from the ancient Freeman Order, Paul gains the strength and leadership qualities necessary to unite the scattered factions of Dune.
