World War I ends, allowing a cook named Ernest to return to a peaceful life. Thus the hero arrives in Oklahoma, which has become the new home of a huge number of persecuted Indians. Here the protagonist meets his uncle, who is the largest landowner in the state. Furthermore, William is a friend of the indigenous people and is considered a man of honor by the people around him. One day, a relative suggests to Ernest that he marry Molly, a young heiress to a rich Indian family. It is soon revealed that William has a terrible plan. The man wants to take the land from the Native American family, but to do so Molly and all of her relatives must die. And it is advisable that everything looks like an accident. If everything works, the Indian property will pass into the hands of the only living member of the family, who will be Ernest.
