Max is sent to the White House while Charlie, the secret service dog, is on maternity leave. He meets TJ, a 12-year-old boy who happens to be the son of the president. Due to the high function of his father, TJ faces great difficulty in adapting and living a normal life. During a state visit by the Russian President and her daughter Alexandra (Alex), TJ is asked to accompany her during her stay.
TJ is friends with Alex, but when he sneaks out of the White House to try and get to a party with his new friends at school, two masked men appear and try to kidnap the two. To the children’s luck, Max also sneaked out of the White House and watched the two, managing to intervene and save them from the hands of the kidnappers.
Max bites one of the kidnappers by the ankle, and the two kids manage to run back to the White House where their parents and security people are arguing. TJ and Alex form an unusual alliance and start investigating the suspect facts of those they think they are not honest. As their multiple attempts to do the detectives fail, the secret service convinces President Bennett to allow Max to return to duty. After that incident, the Russian president is upset very much and reproaches his American counterpart that he is unable to defend his own child, too, for a whole nation.
